Getting Started
What is VerifyYou?
VerifyYou is a privacy-first verification service that proves you're a real human, without requiring government ID or storing your personal data.
Once verified, you can share your "humanness" with communities, apps, and platforms that want to know you're real. Think of it as a passport for the internet, but one that protects your privacy instead of exposing it.
How do I get verified?
It's simple and takes about 30 seconds:
- Download the VerifyYou app
- Open the app and tap "Verify Code" then enter the code provided by the Subreddit or community
- Follow our friendly bear through a few quick head movements
- Done! You're verified.
No ID required. No forms to fill out.
Is VerifyYou free?
Yes! VerifyYou is completely free for individual users and community moderators.
Platforms and businesses pay for the service, so you never have to. We believe verification should be accessible to everyone.
Do I need to provide an ID?
No. VerifyYou does not use government ID to verify humanness. Ever.
We use liveness detection, checking that you're a real, live person through natural movements, not identity verification. We don't want to know who you are. We just want to know that you're human.
Privacy & Data
What data do you collect?
Almost nothing. During verification, we temporarily process video to confirm you're a live human. This data is used only for that moment and is not stored.
We don't collect:
- Your name or identity
- Your location
- Your contacts
- Photos or videos
- Browsing history
We store only a cryptographic proof that you completed verification. That's it.
Do you sell my data?
Absolutely not. We don't sell, share, or monetize your data in any way. Our business model is based on platforms paying for verification, not on selling user information.
Your privacy is our product. If we violated it, we'd have nothing.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. You can delete your VerifyYou account at any time from the app settings. When you delete your account:
- Your verification status is revoked
- All associated data is permanently deleted
- Communities you've shared with will see you as unverified
It's your data. You're in control.
Is my verification linked to my real identity?
No. Your verification is anonymous. We prove you're human without knowing who you are.
When you share your verification with a community, they see that you're verified—not your name, face, or any personal details. It's proof of humanness, not proof of identity.
Verification
What if the verification doesn't work on my device?
The humanness check works differently across devices. Most modern smartphones work great, but some older devices or unusual camera setups may have trouble.
If verification fails, try:
- Making sure you're in a well-lit area
- Cleaning your camera lens
- Removing glasses or hats temporarily
- Trying again in a few minutes
Still having trouble? Contact support@verifyyou.com and we'll work with you on alternative verification methods.
What happens if I change my appearance?
Don't worry! Our system recognizes you based on liveness, not your specific appearance.
Normal changes don't affect your verification:
- New haircut or hair color
- Growing or shaving a beard
- Wearing makeup or not
- Wearing glasses or contacts
Your verification stays valid regardless of how you look.
Can I verify on multiple communities?
Yes! Verify once, use it everywhere. That's the whole point.
Your verification works across all participating communities and platforms. All you need to do is choose to share it. You control which communities see your verified status.
What if I don't want to verify?
That's completely your choice. Verification is optional.
Communities set their own policies about what unverified users can do. Some might limit posting or commenting for unverified members. Others might not require verification at all. Check with the specific community's rules.
We'll never force you to verify. But we hope you'll see it's quick, easy, and respects your privacy.
Can I revoke my verification from a community?
Yes. You can stop sharing your verification with any community at any time with just one tap in the app.
When you revoke, that community will see you as unverified going forward. You're always in control of who sees your verified status.
For Communities
How do I add VerifyYou to my community?
We're currently onboarding communities in batches. To get started:
- Visit our contact page and tell us about your community
- We'll reach out to discuss integration options
- Once set up, your members can verify and share their status
Integration is typically simple and we provide full support throughout the process.
Is it free for community moderators?
Yes. Moderators and community admins can use VerifyYou for free. We want to make it easy for communities of all sizes to build trust.
What information do I see about verified members?
You see only that they're verified—nothing more.
You don't receive their name, photo, location, or any personal information. Just a simple verified/not verified status. This protects member privacy while still giving you confidence they're real humans.
